Time Out For Women

Both babies were sleeping, that is why they are not in the picture :)

This past weekend I had the amazing opportunity to attend the Time Out For Women conference in St. Louis with my mom, sister, and aunt Victoria. There were some really great speakers who made me laugh and made me cry. The talks were so touching. They talked on womanhood, motherhood, true beauty, making the world and community around you a better place, and so much more. The ones that touched me the most at this time in my life were the stories about being a mom. Some were sad other stories were funny, I was able to relate to many of the stories already. One that touched my heart was one of the girls who spoke, her little 9 month old boy got a metal hanger stuck in his mouth. He had just learned to walk and fell, and the hanger got stuck under his tongue and they could not get it out. They rushed to the ER and the doctors did not remove that hanger for 8 hours. How awful would it be to see your sweet baby in so much pain and you could not do anything for them. She said that she remembers the sweet moments that took place during this trying event. Such as the baby only wanted the mom to hold him at times, or to just have her hand on his little cheek to give him comfort. It was a great story of love and mercy during such an awful ordeal. It made me start thinking that you never know what life will bring you with each new day, whether it me good or bad. I made a vow to cherish and enjoy each day to the best that I can, because lets face it life is hard, and being a parent is no walk in the park at times. But just like the mother in that story I feel the same way, when Chate is so fussy and hard to settle I feel like I want to rip my hair out of my head. I need to remember that he just needs my full love and attention until he quites down and when I have succeeded in figuring out what he needs, he gives me those sweet smiles that melt my heart, and all that crying was worth it, but it sure does leave me a little more tired and frazzled...just keeping it real. But I feel that if I could try to always find the goodness and Gods tender mercies in our trials, and in our joys that I can make it through each day just a little better, and be a better mom and wife. Being a mother and wife is so reward and yet challenging, but with all the blessings that surround my life and family, I would not trade it for anything.  It was so much fun to spend time with my family laughing and growing closer together. Thank you mom for taking me! I look forward to next year already!

Chate and his developing world

Wow has it really been a whole 2 months that I brought home the most perfect little boy from the hospital?! Time sure does fly by, and it saddens me really to think that Chate is growing and developing so quickly, I want him to stay my sweet little baby boy forever, but seeing as that is unfortunately impossible, I cherish each day with him (and I hardly ever put him down, which Chance thinks is making him a mama's boy) oh well if that means I get to snuggle and kiss his squish little cheeks all day so be it! Well some big mile markers have happened this past month and I would like to share those with you :) -

- At 6 weeks he laughed for the first time, it was the sweetest little sound, and I laugh every time he does it. And it is now my daily goal to get him to laugh as much as possible, and yes I do all the crazy psycho faces that I can to get that laugh too. Hopefully none of our neighbors are peeping in our windows because they would probably think I was a crazy person haha.

- He loves being held up in the air, and he is completely straight when you hold him up above you, just like super man. So I call him Super Baby! Which is fitting, because his dad is Super Freddy :). And I guess that would make me Super Mom right? I would like to think so!

- Chate has now discovered his hands, and holds them out in front of him and just looks at them like "how do I work these things", and then he gives up on figuring them out and they automatically go in his mouth.

- He loves to play "games" as I call them. While I am nursing him lately he has been attaching, and then quickly unlatching himself, smiles at me, and then quickly reattaches. He does this several times before actually getting down to business and eating. He thinks he is so funny, little tricker :).

- Chate absolutely loves getting his diaper changed, as soon as he hears the crinkle of the wipes container he gets all excited. Well I would get excited to if you know what I mean. He hates having a messy diaper.

- He is a very strong little guy and can almost roll over by himself, he gets to his side, but doesn't finish through yet. He has been a champ at holding up his head since he was about 2 weeks old, but now he is a pro, and doesn't need any help with holding it up at all.

He had a pediatrician appointment yesterday 9/5/2012 for his 2 month check-up. I was not looking forward to this appointment because he had to get shots. But he did well, cried when he got them, but I was able to easily console him poor baby, I did not like watching him, pretty much being tortured, it breaks my heart to hear him cry, so it wasn't a pleasant experience for me, but he seemed to handle it pretty well. Okay so here are his stats for month 2!

- Height: 22 3/4 45th percentile, That is 2 and 3/4 inches longer than when he was born.
- Weight 13 pounds 7 ounces 85th percentile. That is over five pounds that he has gained since birth! Such a little chunk!
-Head Circumference: 40.3 55th Percentile.

Blessing Day

On August 12, 2012 Chate was blessed into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. A baby blessing is a special blessing given to the child to give them a name welcome him officially into the church. For those who do not know what takes place for a baby blessing I got a little excerpt from 'lds.org'.  “Every member of the church of Christ having children is to bring them unto the elders before the church, who are to lay their hands upon them in the name of Jesus Christ, and bless them in his name” (D&C 20:70). In conformity with this revelation, only worthy men who hold the Melchizedek Priesthood may participate in naming and blessing children. When blessing a baby, men who hold the Melchizedek Priesthood gather in a circle and hold the baby in their hands. The person who gives the blessing:

1. Addresses Heavenly Father
2. States that the blessing is given by the authority of the Melchizedek Priesthood.
3. Gives the child a name.
4. Gives a priesthood blessing as the Spirit directs.
5. Closes in the name of Jesus Christ.

This was such a special day for me and my little family. I always looked forward to watching my then "future" husband someday holding our baby and giving him a blessing. Chance did such an amazing job. Some of the things I remember from the blessing are that he advised Chate to read and ponder the scriptures often. To help his mother and give her comfort when needed, prepare to go on a mission and someday find a wife and take her to the temple. He also was lead by the spirit to tell Chate to know of his divine worth, and the love that God has for him. I can't remember everything Chance was inspired to say but these sweet things were what stood out to me the most. I am so lucky to have a husband that holds the priesthood and has such a love for Christ and his family, and am so blessed to have such a sweet baby boy who was born into the covenant and will grow up in the church. The LDS church has made me who I am today and I thank God each day for my blessed life. I hope that I can do all that I can to to instill the love that I have for the gospel to Chate and that he will come to know the truthfulness of it for himself. This day also happened to be the anniversary date for the day that Chance was baptized into the church 6 years ago now!
