8 Months

I just have to say this past month went by way too fast for me, can't time just slow down for a bit?! My baby is growing like crazy and I feel like I can't keep up and enjoy each new things he learns, before he is off learning something new! But it has been a big month for this kid, he has learned how to crawl! He is doing it his own way and goes backwards, but he gets to where he wants to go, I say he is like Mater off of Cars, professional backwards driver :).

I also started the CIO for sleep, he was just waking up WAY too much in the night for my liking. I was never a huge fan on the whole ordeal, but i finally broke down and did it because I needed sleep and I know Chat needed sleep as well.Well MUCH to my surprise the whole thing has gone so well. The first night he cried for 20 minutes and slept from 6:30 to about 6:30 the next morning! I of course was in the bathroom with the fan on when he was crying, because it breaks my heart to hear him cry, so Chance came and got me when he stopped crying. I was really hoping the the goodness of that nights sleep wasn't a fluke, well thankfully it wasn't because the next night he cried for 15 minutes and slept well again, and so on. I am now very proud to say that I can lay him in his crib and he goes to sleep without crying! I feel very accomplished! But there is one small step back...he has acid reflux and has lots of gas in his belly, which calls for lots of burping. Every little burp will rouse him from his peaceful sleep, and either Chance or myself spend a lot of time trying to get those darn burps out. Funny thing is though, he sleeps as we are pounding on his back, but one little burp wakes him up...we haven't quite figured that one out yet. He is on Zantac, but I don't think it is really helping. I know that if he didn't have so much gas issues he would sleep without interruption. Hopefully he grows out of it soon.

Anyways for now here are some pictures of Chate at 8 months! It is very hard to get many good pictures of a wiggly baby who wants to do anything BUT hold still and look at the camera, but I did get some good pictures of over a hundred that I took.

Overnight Date

Time alone, with just Chance and I have become very few these days, which is ok, because we LOVE spending time with Chate, but we were really ready to have some REAL alone time... So we called in the big guns... Grandma Kjar! Valentines Day weekend we booked a room at the Westin in St. Louis, and just threw our plans into the wind and did whatever the heck we felt like doing. I have to admit that I was nervous to leave Chate overnight, and I wrote what most people would think was a small book of instructions for my mom, not like she hasn't raised 5 kids or anything herself...But you know I just wanted to make sure everything went smoothly, and of course it went fine, and I only ended up calling once to check on things, yay me!

Ok so, back to Chance and I...we set off on our fun night out together soon after my mom arrived. It was quite a strange feeling to not have to constantly worry about changing diapers, feeding, playing, and such and just focus on myself, and talk to my husband. I also have to admit that I even had butterflies and spent a little too much time trying to make myself look the best I could just for him, I think it was worth it :). We got to our hotel, which was very nice, and we just relaxed for a while and made dinner reservations at a restaurant called Mike Shannons. We got all dressed up, because hey this was date night ya know, and it was a fancy restaurant. We were one of the first couples to arrive seeing as it had just opened. The food was SO good, and worth every pretty penny we spent on it too. Chance even went as far as saying the steak he had was the best he had ever eaten, and he brought it up time and again for a couple days after, so that is saying something.

After dinner we walked back to our hotel, we ended up going to bed at 10 seeing as we are now old folk and anytime after 10 we are pretty much zombie people. But I was bound and determined to not wake up at 6 o'clock, I would be sleeping in! YAY! That morning we got up and ate breakfast and went to the temple. We had not gone in over a year, it was so nice to be able to go again and partake of the sweet spirit felt there. Afterwards I was anxious to get home to my baby so we set out for home. It was just a really great night out and so good to reconnect with Chance and get to spend time with him.  I love that man so much, he was made for me, not to sound cliche, but I really do believe he is my soul mate. Just gets me the way no one else can. Love you babe, and I cannot wait for many more adventures together as we go throughout our lives. Thank you so much mom for watching our baby for us we appreciated it SO much.

Pictures from February

Here are some pictures from February. We got about a foot of snow within a couple of days, so what did we decide to do? Oh take our cute little boy outside and see what he would think of the "white stuff", he didn't really quite know what to do, and was probably wondering why we were throwing snow on him. Oh well, he is a good sport and played along, such a good baby :).

7 Months

I am just loving me some chunky baby. I cannot get enough of this kid, he is such a good baby and I am so lucky to be his mom. Nothing too exciting happened in this month, just continuing to learn and explore, and getting dirty, that's what little boys do right? Well I guess one major advancement did take place with Chate. For those of you who have actually seen my little baby, you would know that he is not tall, he is rather just a short little compact dude, which is just fine with me, I love it. But that being said, he was never able to reach his toes and play with them, until now. Apparently he grew about 2 inches within this last month, and he now can finally reach his toes, and boy does he love them, he rolls, while holding onto his feet, they of course go into his mouth, and he is quite flexible, it is amazing the positions baby's can get their bodies into sometimes.
